Organising my garden borders to look better

Currently my garden borders are a bit of a hotchpotch of plants. I want them to look more cohesive and organised without spending too much money. Do you have any tips to get me started?

"It’s good to repeat a plant along the border to give it more cohesion rather than hodge podge. Choose a plant that suits the site eg sunny, shady, exposed , dry oe moist. I like using grasses in my border designs, they give height and movement.
Another tip is to plant in 3, 5,7………of one variety. This can be achieved with a little patience by splitting your perennials in the spring and replanting them in groups."

"Hi Karen.
You can propagate plants from your garden (or from family or neighbours!) once the weather has warmed up, or now if you have a greenhouse. This will save a lot of money buying plants. Some research is required to find out the best method of propagation ( cuttings, root cuttings, or seeds are the most common ways).
If you decide which plants you want to keep and what you would like the border to end up looking like, then you can look for plants that fit in with your design.
It's helpful to measure the border and draw up a plan to get you started.
It's also important that you look for plants that do well in the soil conditions that you have in the border."

"What I can suggest is that you divide the plants from the border and make it would that there is a boarder to work with with wooden frame or nicely cut grass edged border so that they stand out but less is better as over crowd is not the best"

"Yes three tips
1 coordinate your colours
2 tall at the back falling to shortest at the front of border
3 consider the flowering sequence
So not everything flowers at once then there’s no colour in certain months"
