"The cold feed probably needs securing. The noise is from the water pressure causing the pipe to move. Pipe clips are cheap to buy from most diy shops. If unsure call a plumber"

"This condition is called “water hammer”, or in technical plumbing terms “hydraulic shock”. The bang you hear is a shockwave that results in pipes moving and striking each other or adjoining frames. The banging often gets worse if the pipes aren't adequately supported or if the valves begin to wear out."

"The pipe needs clipping to wall or the isolation valve is faulty"

"Hello. The noise may occur if water pressure is too high, but which is rather more common a plumber didn't fasten the pipes properly (too few pipe clips!). Regards"

"Water hammer causes the sounds, and it happens because water flow starts and stops suddenly as the washing machine runs through its cycle and the water valves open and close."

"Hi. It depends on the.noise it's making. If its a knocking sound it almost certain the water inlet pipe to the the machine is loose and the sudden change in pressure when the.machine calls for water or shuts off the inlet the pipe will knock. If its a whooshing noise it could be you have some kind of restriction on the water supply. A common fault can be not turning a supply isolation tap on fully. Really it's something that needs seeing as different people have different interpretations of what the noise sounds like."

"Usually happeneds if there pipes are not tied. It's the pressure of the machine calling for water and then stopping."

"This can be lack of pipe clips or expansion to which a shock arrestor may by required to take up the sudden shutting off of a solenoid valve."

"could be the washing machine valve or main stop tap isn't fully open or something on the system could be making water hammer on the pipework"
