Cost of fitting a bidet spray to the toilet

We got used to these on holiday and want one at home, it's just a little hose thing that connects near the loo as far as I can tell. Is it a quick job for a plumber, and roughly what would they charge? Also does it need its own valve?

Hi, you would probably need to T off the cold water mains entering your WC. I would install an isolation valve as they can be known to produce minor leaks.

Hello, I would charge from £90 total if tapping straight into the toilet’s cold water supply. it would be possible to get hot and cold water from the sink, but this would add additional costs. Most likely £140+

It's  called a douche or shattaf, it is connected to the cold water or some have hot and cold feeds with a tap like head to turn on and off , cost of fitting approximately £80 to £120

It can be a fairly straightforward job, but a handheld bidet spray shouldn't just be connected directly to the toilet cold-water supply without considering backflow protection under the Water Regulations.

The installation will normally need suitable isolation and the correct backflow protection depending on the arrangement. I'd recommend having a plumber look at the existing pipework and proposed position first.

For a straightforward installation with good access, I'd normally expect around £100–£200 including labour and basic fittings, but it can be more if additional pipework or backflow protection is required.

unfortunately this cannot be done in the UK at it breaks water regulations. The hose can sit in the toilet bowl and syphon cat 5 water back into the cold feed to the taps. To install a bidet, you need to have a dedicated cistern and it needs to be far enough away from the toilet so that the hose cannot reach to toilet bowl.

£150-£350, its never a quick job unfortunately, and it depends if you want the water freezing cold, or temperature controlled using the hot.. Using a bum gun during the UK winter months is not pleasant with freezing cold water :) so id recommend using a thermostatically “like a shower” controlled version running from hot and cold supply,.
