Yes you need to defrost it and either empty it or wrap it up with tape or foil,also before you plug it in in the new house you need to leave it to get its freon leveled!!!kind regards

Emptying just makes it easier to move. If it's not defrosted that's probably going to drip everywhere but that's up to you really. But after you move it it would need to sit unplugged for couple of hours for the gases to settle before switching back on.
