"All taps are made to a standard and usually will last a decent amount of time provided they are fitted correctly...
In terms of longevity, the most common issues tend to be caused by poor installation, damage to the securing rings leading to the taps becoming loose, or the actual valves inside of the taps decaying over time...
My personal experience is to install taps with the O-rings correctly fitted, using brass securing rings (most come supplied with plastic ones now), and to source taps which are fitted with ceramic valves instead of brass as they don't degrade and fail and offer smoother operation. Hope this all helps, and make sure you shop around, as the most expensive aren't always the best!"
