Asked by Simon on 21st Jan 2021"In my opinion both do the same job in general timber is domestic use and metal in commercial or on larger scale projects.Timber is probably cheaper depending on amount and contacts."
Answered on 21st Jan 2021 - Member since Feb 2020 - report"If it is an external wall, I would use metal sections as they will not rot if damp. They are also slightly cheaper and very easy to use. Either is a good option though."

metal stubs are normally used for quicker and cheaper install for dividing office space within commercial buildings
Timber stubs are normally used for domestic properties and load bearing for example under a roof with load bearing roof structure"

Timber studs or a plywood lined metal wall ....kind of the same

"Metal stud is recommended in basements and commercial applications. Timber is the preferred component for new build housing/extensions/lift and garage conversions.
