Large fireplace opening

What can you do if a fireplace opening is too big? Is this easy to fix? How can you make a fireplace smaller? Cheers.

"Depending on what the fireplace is made off either way it will be relatively easy to make the fireplace smaller. You just need to in fill either side with the same material that is made from originally"
