Is air conditioning expensive to run?

How much does it cost to run air conditioning in the UK? I'm seriously considering it, but a bit worried about the electricity costs. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect if it was used over the warmer months?

Hi to answer this as honest as I can,we must understand that it all Varys, typically nothing is cheap in the uk anymore especially energy,but no they are not as expensive as you’d think as thy don’t run all the time,the system should be spec’d specifically for the room/rooms and work on a thermostat basis,they are cheaper to run if you have fixed air conditioning and not portable

Lounge size unit → about 75p–£2 per day

Portable unit → about £1–£3 per day (less efficient)

It depends on usage and how hard it has to work generally about per hour but that's initial start up once the room reaches ambient temperature it uses far less energy costing very low providing the installation engineer sizes it according to your room size and insulation
