"Yes, it is highly recommended to arrange specialized, high-value insurance for antiques during transit."

"In most cases, standard removal company insurance provides limited liability cover, which may not fully protect high-value antiques. It’s therefore important to check exactly what level of cover your chosen removals company includes.

Many removal firms offer Goods in Transit insurance, but this is often subject to weight-based compensation limits rather than true item value. For antiques or high-value pieces, this may not be sufficient.

I would recommend:
• Asking the removals company for written confirmation of their insurance cover and claim limits.
• Declaring all antiques in advance, with accurate valuations.
• Checking whether your home insurance policy includes “contents in transit” cover.
• Considering specialist insurance for particularly valuable or irreplaceable items.

For valuable antiques, specialist cover provides peace of mind and ensures you are insured for their true replacement or agreed value during transport.

It’s always better to clarify cover before moving day rather than risk being underinsured."

"Only if your the actual removal company
If not the company you use should already be covered for this
If there not, ring another firm"

"Yes you would need to get them protected, but as we are professional and we do do the best and safest job for your items , but we will not be held responsible for any damage , but we take our time and put our profession into our work never let any of our customer down , I’m not sure if you will be able to insure antiques though to be honest"

"no the van driver should have enough goods in transit insurance to cover your sentimental value if it has a even price"
