Installing a gas fire insert and cast iron fireplace

We have levelled the hearth and present drilled holes ready to attach Carron cast iron fireplace to wall. We now need someone to connect the Nu Flame Gas Insert to the existing capped supply. We also need someone to do a flue test. Do we require fire cement to seal the cast iron fireplace? Thanks

"Refer to the manufacturer instructions. However most fires with a flue duct will require some sort of sealing with fire proof substance."

"You can seal the cast back panel with fire rope and from experience I’d use a high temp heat resistant fire cement that comes in a tube for use with a silicone gun to help the fire rope stay in place around the chimney opening and also for extra seal.
Most cast iron fireplaces will also backfilled with vermiculite and then cemented over."

"Most fires will need a seal,, you are always better off ringing the manufacturer of the Fire, as a manufacturer instructions will always override anything from gas safe or any other platform"

"Yes—usually, but only in specific areas
Fire cement (or sometimes heat-resistant sealant) is typically used to:
Seal joints between the insert and the back panel / closure plate
Seal around the flue connection (register plate area)
Prevent smoke or fumes escaping into the room
However, it’s not normally used to fix the fireplace to the wall itself. That’s done mechanically (screws/brackets into the wall, which you’ve already prepped for)."
