Install an integrated dishwasher where there is none at present

I have decided to install a dishwasher. This would be a brand-new installation, a dishwasher does not currently exist in the kitchen at present.
So in one of the units to the one side of the sink, this is where the new dishwasher would go and I’m hoping that an integrated dishwasher, possibly slimline, can go into this space. My concerns are:
How can this be undertaken and coordinated, considering that there is plumbing work, electricity considerations, and I’m hoping that I can use the same existing kitchen cabinet door as a cover for it, as I believe it would be difficult to find this exact covering in the market.
How can this project come to fruition from a logistical standpoint?
I’m finding it really frustrating as most white gold suppliers and other kitchen installation businesses, only include the installation itself, but not installation from scratch like in this case.
Would very much appreciate your advice.

"Hi Ana,
I would say that as long as the space will take the new appliance then all is well but the cupboard carcass will of course need to be removed before the dishwasher can be installed. You have rightly said the door is what may cause the problem. As far as I'm aware the door has to be an appliance door and not a cupboard door but not sure as you may be able to adapt (not my area of expertise I'm afraid)
Hope this helps"

Hi Ana,

Installing a new integrated dishwasher where one hasn’t existed involves coordinating plumbing, electrical work, and cabinetry. Here’s how to approach it:

1. Feasibility
Ensure the chosen cabinet (ideally next to the sink) has enough space. A slimline dishwasher is usually 45cm wide. Being close to existing plumbing and drainage makes things easier and cheaper. Check for an electrical socket or plan for one to be installed.

2. Trades Required
You’ll likely need:

Plumber: To connect the dishwasher to cold water and waste pipes.

Electrician: To install a power outlet if one isn’t already present.

Kitchen fitter or joiner: To remove or modify the cabinet and attach your existing cabinet door to the new dishwasher.

3. Using Your Existing Cabinet Door
It may be possible to reuse your current cabinet door if its size matches the dishwasher’s front panel. A skilled kitchen fitter can usually adapt it with custom brackets. If it doesn’t fit perfectly, there are sliding door kits for some models that offer flexibility.

4. Project Logistics
Since many suppliers only offer installation, not full retrofits, the best approach is to:

Hire a plumber first to assess plumbing options.

Hire an electrician to ensure a compliant power source.

Work with a kitchen fitter who can remove/modify the cabinet and fit the dishwasher neatly with the reused door.

You may need to act as your own project manager or hire a local kitchen fitter/handyman with experience coordinating trades. Look for professionals on Checkatrade, MyBuilder, or Rated People, and clearly state that this is a new installation with plumbing/electrical work involved.

Tip: Finalize the space and door situation before purchasing your dishwasher to ensure it fits and works with your existing kitchen design."
