Hydraulic cement for basement holes

Can I use hydraulic cement to fill wall or ceiling holes in a basement or will it depend on the type of basement I have? How can I ensure I use the right product that is suitable for my basement in particular?

"It’s absolutely the right thing to use. It has the ability to stop water, and is perfect for the use in basements where ingress is possible.
It has a short use time so once mixed it is workable for 15-20 mins. As with any wet cement based products.. limit contact with bare skin and if mixing in an enclosed space I’d suggest appropriate mask..
Clean/rake out/ remove any loose material in joints and apply as required.. walls perfectly suitable..
Ceiling shouldn’t be affected by hydrostatic pressure (water penetration into property under weight of soil, water table etc) May just be a lack of ventilation and a damp room causing issues to the ceiling… unless you have a hollow core slab I wouldn’t expect hydraulic cement to be of any use? It would potentially be timbe r joists or possibly block and beam dependent on construction… limited info will give limited answers… sorry"

"This depends on the age of the property. If it's an old property it might need a lime based product so it can react to ground conditions in the same way the property reacts. I would advise to contact the suppliers to find the best product for the job. There are plenty out there."

"Yes you can use that, it is designed for basements etc mainly for brickwork. Depending on what your ceiling is constructed of as to what you need to use for holes in it.. If its damp in there you could always patch the ceiling and paint the whole lot with a bathroom paint which is water resistant."
