Ask your QuestionI am concerned about a possible leak from my chimney. The water seems to be leaking through the ceiling of the upstairs walls but it is not far from the point that the chimney flue passes by. Without actually getting up onto the roof, is there any other way I can check whats causing it?

"The only other way is to go into the loft, during the day and see if you can see daylight through the roof. If its near the chimney I'm guessing its the flashing. (The lead that is pointed into the chimney that then lays across the roof tiles)"

You will need to get in the loft and see if it is a tile/tiles broke or, if the water is actually coming down the chimney wall.
If the water is coming down the wall then it maybe the lead flashing to the chimney.
If it is a tile then it will be an easy fix.
If it is the lead flashing then a full inspection will need to be carried out to see the full extent of work required.
Hope this helps."
"The stack should be inspected. The first things to check are the flashing, the pointing and the crown"
