How thick should a shed base be?

I'm planning to lay a concrete base for a 10x8 foot shed. How thick should the slab be, and does it need any reinforcement or just basic concrete?

The concrete base for a small shed should be 100mm, and it should be laid over 150mm of hardcore/scalpings that have been properly compacted with a wacker plate.

A thickness of 150mm is normally sufficient. Mesh reinforcement mid-height in the slab is sensible.

With a sub-soil of clay and vegetation growing close by, a structural engineer should be consulted.

Put re bar in it you will get the re bar from any local building  suppliers ,

Better goung over board & you wont ever have to come ba k to it again

about 80-100ml doesn't need to be reinforced as there's nothing moving over it (cars/machinery etc). Basic strong mix concrete with suffice.

The base should be a minimum of 6 to 8 inches thick just strong concrete mix no steel required reinforcement.. hope that is helpful to you.

The shed base should be around 150mm deep above ground level and yes reinforced concrete would be more ideal as will longer sustainability

When you buy a shed the size will be on the shed, i would get some slabs over the area your shed or bigger area , put some bricks under the shed floor timbers that would stop the bottom of the shed getting wet
