How often should chimney be swept?

How often should chimneys be swept? We use ours for a wood burning stove but it's only in use on very cold days.

"Hi, we recommend at the end of the winter when your not likely to use the fire again and then at the beginning of the winter before you start to use the fire in case something has nested of fallen in the chimney."
