How much do builders get paid?

I’m getting some quotes for building work and want to understand what a fair day rate looks like. How much do builders typically get paid per day? We're thinking about an extension or garage conversion right now

"I would say anything between £200-£300 for a builder or joiner"

"This is a very difficult question to answer... it all depends on where you are, what you want doing, skill levels, experience, how fast you want the job doing etc.. Ball park a skilled general builder in the south would be looking at £250-£400 per day. You always have the option of day rate or fixed price though."

"I normally pay our plasterer £250 a day so a builder that does it all I would say £250-300 a day"
