How many downpipes should a house have?

How many downpipes are sufficient for a 3-bed detached house? I'm not there's enough on our house for dealing with heavy downpours.

I would say at least 4 on a 3 bed and find out where they run off to some go straight into the ground and some above into a drain.

Surely you only need 1 for each side of roof ! So if there are 2 sides then  2 Downpipes

2 to 3 downpipes for a 3 bed semi detached, 4 to 5 downpipes on a 4 bed detached house.

You should have a minimum of two down pipes one to front of the pitched roof and one to the rear
