Water on my drive

I have water coming out one of the holes on my drive.
Does not happen all the time, but seems to get worse when raining.
Our drive is at the front of the house down steps below our house

"If you mean a manhole or a gully there may be a blockage or when there’s heavy rain the system can’t cope. It’s hard to fully answer the question without knowing what ‘hole’ or seeing the property"

"hello cerise,

it sounds as if you have a blocked trap/possible drain. the reason it will only show intermittently and during rains is because the pipe volume will be maxed out and have nowhere to run to but come to the surface. If it is something you would like unity to investigate and potentially clear then feel free to contact us

thanks again

"🧩 Most Likely Causes (in order)

1. Blocked surface water drain / gully — Leaves, silt, moss, debris have built up in the pipe or trap. Works fine in light rain, but heavy rain overwhelms it → water backs up & emerges at the hole.

2. Damaged / displaced pipe underground — Cracked joint, collapsed section, or pipe that's slipped out of alignment. Water gets through fine in dry weather but can't pass in volume, so it rises up.

3. Tree roots in the line — Roots grow into pipe joints, gradually restrict flow. Rain washes debris into them, creating a partial blockage that surcharges.

4. Soakaway / drainage field saturated or failed — If the water goes to a soakaway, it may be full / blocked — water has nowhere to go but back up.

5. Wrong pipe fall / poor installation — Pipe isn't sloping correctly, so silt settles and restricts flow over time."
