How long does tarmac usually last on a driveway?

We’re thinking about replacing our old drive with tarmac and I’m trying to work out whether it’s something that lasts decades or needs redoing sooner than you’d expect.

"If done correctly 15-20 years, the correct depth of MOT, sub base tarmac and topping tarmac play a massive role on how long your driveway will last for.
250mm-300mm MOT
80mm sub base tarmac
30mm topping tarmac"

"Tarmac can last for 5+ years depending on the way it was laid, and which compounds used. The key is how it was delivered and put down."

"It depends on the installation process, depth applied, usage and even down to severity of the weather, But in general you should be looking at 15-20 years if installed correctly and professionally"
