Cost to turn my front garden into a driveway

Parking on our road is an absolute nightmare and we've had enough. The front garden is roughly 5m by 6m, what would it cost to pave it over properly?

A properly constructed driveway isn’t simply a case of removing the garden and laying paving. It needs sufficient excavation, a correctly installed and compacted sub-base and suitable drainage to prevent settlement and standing water.

As a broad guide, I would allow approximately £4,500–£7,500 for a professionally constructed 30m² driveway, depending on whether you choose block paving, resin, tarmac or another finish, and how much excavation and disposal is required.

You should also check whether a dropped kerb is required and obtain the necessary approval from your local authority. Drainage is particularly important, as the finished driveway may need to be permeable or drain within the property rather than discharging surface water onto the highway.

A site visit would be needed to provide an accurate estimate.
