How do I get grit out of door lock

How can I get grit out that's stuck in my door lock? We've been doing some exterior work and grit seems to have got into the mechanism.

Try absolutely soaking it in WD40, if possible take the lock out of the door hold it upside down while squirting WD40 into it so it runs downwards on the side which faced the road.

take it off and clean and oil it is it a upvc door or a mortice lock

It really needs stripping down and cleaning where abouts are you

Spray some oil first in cylinder. Leave it around 10 mins. Place key in and keep tuning. Repeat process again.
