Ask your QuestionIn what way do controls impact on energy-related products?
Asked by Tushar on 4th May 2022"Hi mate,
Controls generally impact energy-related products in the ability to be able to control the timings the appliance is either off or on, and in some cases speak to the appliance and change the efficiency of how it operates based on external factors.. in regards to a boiler for example having controls will either tell the boiler to fire up or not based on what your heating/hot water requirements are. A much more efficient way to operate said appliance than just turning it on from the thermostat. The end result really should be that you enable your appliance to be as efficient as possible. Controls help towards this result."
"Controls have the most influence on energy efficiency if your boiler has been sized correctly. Most aren’t BTW. If you select something such as weather compensation then it will accurately put in what the property requires at different outside temperatures, which have the most influence on the heat loss of the property. You’d be surprised that most properties in the UK only have 8-10KW heating requirements at -1 degrees C. So your 30kw combi boilers with a 24KW Heating output in theory could heat up yours and your neighbours on each side ( if a terrace house) to 21c internal temperature"
