Hive Heating Query

Question

Currently have 2 x thermostats and want to have Hive V4 fitted leaving only 1 thermostat running full house and safely remove upstairs one so i can then fill hole as not needed.

I already have Hive kit so just need install.

Yes. Safely isolate any live wiring at the source  usually in a wiring centre  remove existing thermostat & join the new hive switch live to operate both zones. Very simple.

If you have 2 thermostats than you will also have a zone valve that opens and shuts from one zone to the other zone if this is removed then fitting a hive for full system will not be a problem

Certainly possible. You don’t need to remove either zone valve, the wiring just needs to be altered within the wiring centre to activate both zone valves when the thermostat is calling for heat.

If you currently have two thermostats controlling separate upstairs and downstairs heating zones, it is usually possible to convert the system to a single Hive thermostat controlling the whole house. However, this depends on how the existing zone valves and wiring are configured.

In most cases, the upstairs thermostat and zone control can be removed or bypassed, and the remaining thermostat used to call for heat across both zones. The wiring changes are normally made in the wiring centre and may involve linking the heating zone valve controls so both zones open together when Hive calls for heat.

A heating engineer or electrician would need to inspect the existing wiring before confirming exactly what modifications are required.
