Glazed wine cellar units

I've seen some really cool wine cellar units installed in the floor with a glass trap door. They're supposed to be easy to install but I can't find any info on floor strength requirements etc. Does anyone know much about these?

"You would need to get the specification off the supplyer, you can ring their technical department to find out. They should be able to give you the structural info that you need."

"There are a few bits to this.

- Firstly you would need the technical specification of the cellar you want to install. This would then give you the weight and also the dimensions
- You would need to consider the foundations on the property to see if there is space for it to be installed and also if the foundations could take the load or there would need to be reinforcement below.
- The glass trap door would then need to look at what floor type you have e.g. beam and block, concrete slab or suspended floor. Once you know this you can look at the requirements to reinforce it. It would be very similar to if you added a skylight in, you need to trim the area around the opening to support.

I hope this helps but happy to discuss further if you need."

"There are no particular strengths needs as long as what you put in is strong and durable you would need toughness glass to ensure no breakages if stepped on"
