Front garden tree removal

I have a tree in my front garden that needs removing. It overhangs a footpath, so do I need any permits or insurance before getting it removed?

"First and foremost, you need to be a trained permit trade person beforehand and a suitable insurance cover before you can cut or fall any tree. Yes you will need a permit and a qualified public cover insurance against any possible damages that could resulted into damages and liabilities associated to persons, building structures and others"

"You will only need permission to remove tree if it’s in a conservation area and has a TPO (tree preservation order)"

"Hi,
If the tree is not protected or you are not in a conversation area you can remove the tree.
The company that removes the tree should have insurance, try and refrain from hiring companies that do not have insurance."

"You shouldn't need any permits or insurance, any reliable tree surgeon to undertake works will have public liability insurance and signs and barriers to be placed on the foottpath."
