"The frog on a brick is the section that is taken out on the top of the brick when it is made.
Some frogs are deep 50mm or quite shallow.
This frog is filled with mortar when you lay the mortar bed and adds to the strength of the bond to the course of bricks laid on top of it.Bricks are usually laid frog up."

"Differing from perforated, frogged facing bricks feature an indentation on one side, this chamfered hollow in frogged facing bricks is intended to be filled with mortar when laid. The frog must be filled with mortar and laid facing upwards in order to maintain the integrity of the build."

"Frogged bricks is just a dip in the brick so cement gets a good grip , other bricks have holes in them and just the same thing , get a good hold and be more secure!!! Hope this has helped you."

"The name fogged bricks is because of there shape. All regular bricks have a frog in them. It's the negative space in the top of the brick. The only bricks that do not have frogs in them are engineering bricks that are used underground"

"Yes frog bricks have got a section missing so the cement bonds into the brick and onto the bottom of the next brick. Engineering bricks have got 3 x holes in them or multiple holes which muck still goes into to bonds it together better.
That's why you can't use block pavers to build a wall even though I have seen it done."
