Foul odour coming from manhole situated in the house

We have a foul odour coming from our manhole which is situated within one of our rooms in the house. What can we do.

Good morning, you need to make sure the manhole or vent pipe is clear if so check the manhole lid has a double seal.

Hi there my name is Tony 
There are 2 reasons you have a foul smell.
The first is the manhole is probably blocked (lift up the lid and take a look).
The second is the manhole isn't a sealed one.
A double sealed manhole cover and frame has a rubber seal (between the lid and frame) plus 4 bolts to bolt the lid down.
If you have a blockage the level of sewage will rise and come through the frame.
This doesn't happen with a sealed one.

It could be you need a discale of the pipe I would check the manhole if you can lift it to see if it's filling up may have blockage on the run

It sounds like you could have a build up of limescale resulting in smells coming from the manhole drain line, or a potential blockage, best advise is to get the manhole in question open & inspected.

Hi there, this could potentially be a number of things.
Blockage, scale build up, fat build up causing slow draining / holding in the pipework or even internal breaks or pipe bellied & holding.
