Fireplace opening to be made higher in kitchen to put in a cooker

I have a fireplace in my kitchen the opening is too low to put my cooker in wondering if it can be made higher to put in a cooker & extractor?

"Yes, if you are not changing the size, then you would need to prop the area around the opening an then you can remove the lintel that will be in the opening and the additional courses of brickwork and reinstall the lintel the desired height."
