On average, each boiler in each household produces around 5.3tons of Co2 emissions each year.
To compare this to a car I have worked out that a car will produce on average 6.4 tons per year. This was calculated on the average driver, driving around 10,000 miles per year with a fuel consumption of 10L / 100km driven and using E10 unleaded fuel.
For a comparison, the average hot air balloon could hold up to 3.76 tons of heated air."

"An oil boiler if you look at it from a work perspective. Gas boilers are highly efficient today. Combined with good insulation, there environmental impact is not that significant. The government are barking up the wrong tree with heat pump, insulation is the way forward."

"Gas is definitely cleaner than heating oil because oil caused twice as much carbon but oil boiler are becoming cleaner and more more efficient in time. hope that answers your question
