"Gas is cheaper than electric
Gas quicker to heat food.
The safer option is electric.
Electric is easier to clean.
All depends on what you prefer to cook on?"

"Benefits of gas stoves:
Quickly adjust stovetop heat levels
Char and grill directly on a burner's open flame
Burners cool down quickly
Heat the sides of a pan with flames
less electromagnetic field influence in comparison to ceramic electric (zero)

Benefits of electric stoves:
Typically less oven temperature fluctuation
More direct heat transfer on stovetop
Dry, even oven heat ideal for browning or broiling
Easy to clean smooth cooktops available
You do not inhale products of burned gas"

"Depends where you live. There could be a health and safety issue if using gas. Particularly in tower blocks. Electric would possibly be cheaper to run and easier to clean too"

"Personally I prefer to cook on gas. I find it more controllable. However, when it comes to ease of cleaning its hard to beat a vitreous or ceramic i.e. flat, hob. If you have children, then electric, particularly induction type, hobs may offer a safety advantage."
