Durability of deck mount bathroom faucets

Are deck mount bathroom faucets durable?

"Hi Kelly, a deck mounted faucet, from a reputable supplier and fitted by a competent plumber, can be expected to last the life of the bathrooms. I retiled a bathroom in Cirencester last year that retained its Victorian bath, basin and taps, which I simply fitted new washers to. No silicone, no mess, no problem. Avoid cheap Far Eastern fittings if you want them to last. Roper Rhodes is a good British brand. Carl"

"The level of durability is going to depend on the quality you buy and the way it is fixed to the floor. As they tend to be mounted to timber-built floors (even if subsequently boarded and tiled) then it’s a good idea to try to fix beyond the floorboard and into a joist just so you can get more stability and have a deeper fixing. When installing, depending on design position the filler just away from the tub so that any slight movement that might take place does not push against it and put the fixings under tension. Use it carefully and do not use it to take your weight when getting in or out of the tub."
