Do detailed house plans have more chance of getting passed?

Depending if the project sits in a Conservation Area or not, Planning will assess the application based on each Borough's policies in relation to the size and shape of the extension. They will assess the impact of your proposal on surrounding neighbours' amenities ( depth, width and height of the proposal ). If it falls inside a Conservation Area they will be concerned about windows and doors materials ( has to be metal frame or timber ) and external finish. 
Detailing will be important in the building regulations stage after securing planning and incorporating the structural drawings in the project.

As long as the drawings clearly show the existing and proposed modifications then it shouldn’t really matter how they are drawn.

It is essential to have architectural plans draw up for any planning application - these would include elevations as well as floorpans
