Silicone render is the only true waterproof render, most others whilst water resistance will absorb some moisture over time.

Sand and cement is a dry finish so yes it does.. silicon render is way forward now

If the render is done correctly it should stop rain water from getting through but all depends on how long the render has been installed.

It repels water until its cracks and fails then water gets in hits solid render then can't get back out

Water Repellent: Silicone renders have hydrophobic qualities, which make them very resistant to water and dirt.

Generally, render repels water. We highly recommend k-rend, or silicon render as these two products are 100% water tight products. No cracks, no peelings and low maintenance.

It depends on the mix ,  I use an additive to make sure it is water repellant
