Does my heating system need scale reducer?

Is scale reducer needed or might it depend on a heating system?

"Typical scale reducers go only certain way towards softening water, in my opinion it is better to fit one on the system specially combination boiler"

"It will need a scale reducer if you live in a hard water area. You can check this online by searching the hardness of water in your area. For example South Wales has soft water therefore we don’t require scale reducers on incoming supplies ."
