Does my chimney need cleaning?

Are there any real risks, problems or dangers associated with not having my chimney cleaned? What about if I don’t clean my chimney as often as I should?

"Yes, chimneys should be cleaned frequently when fuels are burnt for heating, possible risks are chimney catching fire due to extensive soot build up.
Hope that answers the question"

"Not cleaning your chimney can lead to reduced suction of fumes and gases from your fireplace. Worst case scenario would be carbon monoxide poisoning if fumes are not sufficiently extracted. Blockage can also affect any other rooms in the property that has a fireplace."
