Does air conditioning need servicing like a boiler?

We've had a split air con unit in the living room for a couple of years and no one's ever looked at it. Should it be getting an annual service and who does this?

Hi Cheryl, Yes air conditioner needs to be serviced at least once every year. Regular servicing keeps it efficient, prevents breakdowns, improves cooling, and extends its life. The inside unit filters and fan blade get covered in dust and sometimes you get mould built up which can be detrimental to health. The outside unit coils also gets blocked which needs to be cleaned out otherwise it could lead to failure. It has to be serviced by a qualified AC engineer.
