Do bathrooms need to have water resistant paint?

Hello. There are tiles along the bathtub/shower area but then the rest of the walls are just painted so I’d like to ask do I need to use waterproof paint in a bathroom?

"A lot of people use ordinary paint but as a decorator for many years I would always recommend to use kitchen and bathroom paint and it says it on the tin it’s good for protection and the formula is different from normal emulsion"
