"Remove pedestal partially gives you required access without removing basin"

"It depend how tight sink sits on pedestal,if you have loose betwen, then you don,t need remove sink, just cut sealant and remove gently pedestal but not fully, just to make access to wast and for spaner."

"Yes it is.. but sometimes can take a little more time to clean, with the restricted access via a pedestal."

"No is the simple answer.
As with all sink drainers (including pop-ups) these are 'screwed' into the sink using multiple threaded seals and if properly done, the relevant sealant.
Therefore, to change a damaged 'pop-up' you need access both the top and bottom of the sink (and to clean up any 'gunk' that may have accumulated- to ensure a good tight fit).
If the sink is sitting/resting on the pedestal, then this is not a 'quick job'!"

"It is possible as long as the pedestal has enough room behind it to access the waste."

"Not always no as the bottom of the pop up waste is attached to the waste pipe. It all depends how much room is between the pedestal and wall"

"Yes. Normally it can be repaired with a bit of ingenuity."

"With the limited information you have provided, my answer is divided in two parts and is yes to both parts.

1. The pop up mechanism you refer to sounds like what is called a click clack mechanisim. With the smaller shallower wash basins which are normally found in small cloakrooms, the supposed pop up mechanism is rigid, leaving the apperture to the wash basin plug permanently open. This is to help prevent the wash basin from overflowing. If you do happen to have a spring loaded click clack mechanism and it is no longer functioning, then it can be removed from the middle of the plug by turning it anticlockwise and then replaced with another (normally brass) replacement without removing the wash basin or pedestal. The click clack mechanism sits in the centre of the waste plug and is also screwed to the press down plug cap. If your pop up mechanism is plastic then more often then not it will be fixed to the press down chrome of plastic wash basin cap.

2. If your problem is with the waste plug itself, then this also can be removed without removing the wash basin or the pedestal. The waste pipe housing is screwed/connected to normally a 32mm plastic or chrome bottle, p or s waste trap which can be accessed and a little more trickly removed from the opening behind the pedestal.

Hope that helps. Good luck )))"
