I’d like to fit new carpet on my stairs but I’m unsure how exactly to do the measurements. Could you explain to me how I can do this, step-by-step, what tools/equipment will I need and how can I double or even triple check that my measurements are correct?
I’ve read that one requirement for installing a timber floor is that the floor needs to offer structural support to the contents of the room along with the weight of the floor and its users. How do I know for sure that my floor will achieve this? What ways can I measure this exactly? Will I know based on the product itself and once it is installed correctly?
What does stair nosing mean exactly? Do I need it?
What’s the most durable stair runner material?
Is creaking laminate a sign it wasn’t laid properly? It wasn’t cheap to install and the noise wasn’t there at first, so I’m wondering if something’s shifted or if it’s a common issue over time.
Which is generally more hard-wearing, solid wood flooring or engineered wood flooring?
What types of carpet freshener are the most eco-friendly or are they all fine to use from an environmental point of view?
I would like to lay reclaimed oak parquet flooring - what preparation is needed to the existing floor? I currently have oak laminate throughout except for a small porcelain tiled area in the kitchen.
Is it possible to recycle an old carpet?
When it comes to wood floorboards acclimatising to a room, once the process is complete, where should I put the floorboards while the old flooring is being removed? I assume they’ll have to leave the room. Won’t that undo the benefits of acclimatising? Should they be moved around the room and simply kept out of the way of the removal work? I’m just trying to figure out how this can best be done. Thanks for your time.
