Hi we need to put a 16mm armoured voltage cable from. Our house to our detached garage! About 25 meters distance over our Drive . How deep should the trench be as I was told only 300 mm deep would be sufficient by a Solar company! This sound too shallow so I'm looking for advice.
I am a business owner from Belfast and I would like to have some PAT testing and any other appropriate electrical safety inspections performed in my factory. Do the same rules apply to Northern Ireland as to the rest of the UK regarding the likes of PAT and EICR tests/certificates? If not, what are the differences here that I should consider? As a business owner in Northern Ireland, are there any electrical safety tests in particular that I am legally obligated to have undertaken?

I was thinking of supplying electricity to light up the shed that will obviously require a switch , two double sockets to use a small electric convector heater or plug in an electric drill or saw and a radio. What size armoured cable will I need and all the other components to get this done. I am having a kitchen extension so that would be the perfect time as the cable can be fitted whilst accessibility will be easy.

Do you need both an electrician and a gas engineer for a dual-fuel cooker? Might take the stars aligning for me to get them in the same room at the same time if so?
I want to put up some shelving in the living room but I'm nervous about hitting a cable. Are the handheld cable detectors from DIY stores reliable enough?
In what cases do I need to report an electrical incident to the HSE? Does this apply to small fires for example, even if they are put out right away?
