We have planning permission for an extension but not sure I want to spend the money v’s expected return for increased value as want to move in next 5 years. Looking for advice on extension v’s conservatory. Thanks
Is building an extension with SIPs (structurally insulated panels) and cladding cheaper than blockwork and cladding?
How much would we be looking at to replace a flat roof over garden room with A) replacement flat roof B) pitched room with sky lights Room 2.84 x 2.72 m
We have a porch which has 2 windows alongside it.. Is it possible to remove/take one out and bricklayer/plaster it so I can make a tiny mud room space on that side instead and put some coat hangers? Our porch is really narrow tho. Thank you
i have rising damp in a party wall. we have stripped off the skirting board and wet plaster to reveal wet bricks. It looks like it has had some repair work previously as i can see the drill holes but, its not working now. how do i get rid of this and repair it please?
I am looking for a builder to do some work like building an external wall and replace paving. What credentials should I ask to see? Should i need to check what insurance cover he has, in case he has an accident on my property? Is there anything else you would recommend I check? Regards Yvonne
I'd like an old brick shed demolishing carefully, so I can reuse or sell the bricks. How long should I expect this to take?
Considering buying a house, but I will need to make the most out of the space in a small kitchen as there's not enough room for a washing machine. So i'm thinking of removing the back door to the garden, bricking it up halfway, then putting a new window in on that wall above the sink and washing machine. Leaving the plumbing in place. How much would that cost? I am also then considering changing a living room window into a single back door, to regain access to the back garden. How much would that cost? Thanks!
Hi all, I'm considering buying a house with a large (5x5m) conservatory. The grand plan would be to convert the conservatory into a 'proper' extension - brick walls, tiled roof etc. I've read people on this forum saying "yes, if the foundations are adequate, check this by digging a pilot hole". My qu is - if the foundations are inadequate, can they be 'upgraded'? Is there much saving in converting a conservatory vs just building an extension from scratch? I'm looking to get a very rough feel for how much it would cost to convert a conservatory of this size to a 'proper extension'. Does not involve kitchen or bathroom work. Many thanks in advance.
I’m in the process of getting a loft conversion and my neighbours are tenants. I’ve spoken with the tenants and they’re okay with the loft conversion. Should I still serve the landlord with a party wall notice and do landlords don’t care about stuff like this. I don’t fancy going down the hole of getting a party wall agreement and getting party wall surveyors involved. Any and all advice is appreciated.
