Can you paint over existing wallpaper?

We've got wallpaper in the hallway that's firmly stuck and in good condition. Rather than stripping it, can we just paint over it? Will that look alright?

Yep, it will be ok. I just finished 2 rooms painted over wallpaper, just I had to do 2 coats to get the result that I wished for, remember leave it to dry after each coats I left it 12 hours between to be sure will not peel off so good luck.

The short answer is yes. It's can be the easier option somtimes especially with not knowing what condition the plaster is like behind it. there are some potentially downside.

Youll be able to see the lines where the wallpaper is joined.
