Can you gloss radiators?

Question

I want to repaint our old radiators with a proper gloss finish rather than radiator paint. Will standard gloss hold up to the heat. Any preparation needed?

A quick sand down will usually do the job before applying the gloss but typically, oiled based gloss will yellow quickly. Make sure you do it with the radiators turned off and also prime any bare metals. I hope this helps

Yes, you can use standard gloss on radiators, but it must be a premium, heat-resistant, metal-compatible formula.  For the best results, use a water-based "intelligent" gloss (like Dulux Trade Quick Dry Gloss) which resists yellowing.
And yes you will have to do preparation like sanding down. This gives the new paint something to grab onto. Also all depends on the condition of the radiators, if they are flaking then you’ll have to scrap all that off and do some filling . Again all depend to how perfect you want them to look.

The radiators will need sanding down and cleaning, and then I would recommend 2 coats of gloss to cover - it will hold up to the heat.
