Bricking over a concrete path

I am currently planning my garden design, I want to brick over the current concrete paths so that new paths will all be uniformed with the exsisting paths.

I can't afford to do all the paths at once, so want to make sure that when I do the paths, the borders, lawn area and patio are all at the same height as it needs to be wheelchair friendly.

So my question is how much height do I need for bricks on top of concrete? Guessing its just sand then the bricks and then sand in the gaps but not sure the deph of base sand needed.

Any advice welcome. Thank you.

"I recommend between40-50mm of sharp sand. Also about all being a level base for your garden, If there is any differences in height you can ramp up slightly or slope down to make the height differences still accessible for wheelchairs."

"It would be best practice to just brake up the existing concrete to help with drainage then if your talking about block/brick paving around 40mm of sharpsand as the bed."

"Add sand to the base and that will bring the height up to wherever you need it to be. And any good tradesman will do the job uniformly. I always use around 6 inch of builders sand because it's a bit more coarse than others so it has a bit more grab to it, so any thing put on top of it will not move"

"At least 30-50mm to give you good strong base.
Or if you concrete is level you could use a wet slurry mix that is really strong .but most concrete unless it’s had a polished over it has lumps everywhere, hope this helps"

"50 mm sand cement plus the depth off your brick paver providing the sub base is strong"

"I would go for 50 mm in this instance to level off any bumps in the concrete"

"Difficult to asses the hight without looking at the job, you wouldn't need to have a step built, so the job time length would probable be reduced, but if there's ground work to do you may need other trades to complete, hope this helps."

"If block paving over concrete you will just need a 50mm bed of sand. Your edging will need to be laid in mortar to stop movement."

"Hi , It will depend on the bricks you use as they do vary in depth, just make sure they are frost resistant!Add this measurement to 20-50mm of sand and cement mortar depth. But remember to use a priming slurry to the underside of the bricks for added suction and I would also paint some on the existing concrete path once cleaned. Alternatively if all the bricks are uniform in depth and the concrete path existing is sound and to the right level and falls you could use an exterior tile adhesive. Hope that is of some help."
