Boiler keeps cutting out when central heating is on

Question

Looking for an overview of what could be causing the boiler to cut out after a minute or two when the central heating is triggered. Hot water seems to be working with no issue. Is there anything I can try before I call someone out to take a look? It was fine before we went away last weekend

Hiya it could be one of a number of issues faulty controls, poor circulation ( blockage) temperature sensor. What time of boiler is it (combi) if it isn’t I could be a zone valve or 3 port valve issue.

Your boiler is overheating but without knowing what type of system you have, it will be very difficult to say what the fault is as there are several causes for this issue. Could be a diverter valve, blockage in the system, airlock, low pressure, faulty sensor and so on. You will need to get a professional out to diagnose the issue before any repairs are done.

Firstly is it a combi boiler? Most Boilers are; there could be a issue with the diver valve due it working on hot water and not on heating. There could also be a blockage, or if the boiler pressure is building and going into red then it could be the expansion vessel. The best thing to do is to get an engineer to diagnose it. Thanks

It could be the actuater head of diverter valve faulty. Or might be blocked.
