Do I need to remove old wallpaper beforehand, or will the plasterer remove along with blown plaster.

"It would be quicker for the homeowner to remove the paper . Though if removed myself it would probably be better because I would know how much to remove etc because I'd be doing the Plastering."

"The plasterer would expect the paper to be removed beforehand, but also could agree a price to remove the paper for the customer."

"In most cases, old wallpaper should be removed before plastering. A plasterer will normally expect the walls to be stripped back properly so the condition of the blown plaster can be fully assessed. Wallpaper left on the wall can trap moisture and prevent proper bonding. I would recommend removing it beforehand to ensure a clean, solid surface and a long-lasting finish."

"If the old blown plaster is being removed it's pointless trying to get the paper off as the old plaster will come off with the paper."

"The tradesman will remove the paper and charge accordingly, the cost of the job would be less if you remove it yourself."
