"believe it or not, the longer pile the pile, the worse we always say. As you tend to walk up the middle of the stairway causing that section to wear more than the corners, with it being thick pile it will show quicker, carpet runners are best, as the middle which is carpet wears the same... and the sides where painted can be cleaned and if needed re coated"

"Intec protection can be applied to wool carpets to keep the appearance and protect against spillages .
Man made carpets don’t need any protection .
Look for an easy clean option .
Hope that’s helps

"Myself would go for a nice Nylon carpet as it takes a lot of wearing down & keeps a good look for longer than other regular carpets so ideal for hallway ."

"Hi . I would personally choose a polypropylene carpet for my hallway as they are bleach cleanable and as its a hallway it would probably have a lot if foot traffic. Also don't go with anything with to thick of a pile as it would go flat pretty quickly"

"Polyamide Carpet

It is known for being hardwearing and is available in a wide range of colours and patterns. It is also stain resistant and easy to clean. Because of this it is a great choice for high-traffic areas such as the hallway and is also soft enough for a busy living room."
