Bathroom upgrade

Question

Hello

I’m interested in an answer on a question:
I recently posted a job request for a bathroom upgrade with a fair amount that I would be happy to pay so why am I finding it so difficult to find a plumber?

This is not the only site I have looked for a plumber on . 
I’m in London so I thought it should be easy.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this could be ?

I have already had 2 plumbers round to quote and they have gone cold without giving a quote on the job .. 

Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?

With all due respect, your first mistake is “fair amount that I would be happy to pay”. 
What you consider fair will not match the actual cost to a Plummer to complete all of the work that you want and cover our costs. 
If you have a figure that you won’t be able to go past you might get more luck by stating that you have a budget and you would like to discuss how much can be achieved for that amount. That way you might have plumbers more willing to engage with you. 
Basically we don’t like to be told how much a job will cost by a customer because the general public do not know how much everything is costing us to run our businesses. You wouldn’t go into Tesco and offer them a ‘fair amount’ for your shopping and it’s the same with all tradespeople.

Hi Anna, as the customer you won’t be doing anything wrong! I’ve never understood why somebody would take the time and effort to attend in order to give a quote and never followed through with that. Sometimes a customer might decide to go with another plumber after the quote because of price for example, but there’s not really an excuse to not provide the quote in the first place.
