Bathroom lighting

Does it matter what type of light fitting a bathroom has? To be safe and legal, do I need to buy one that specifies it's for a bathroom?

"Hi,
Yes it will be the correct one.
Due to moisture entering into the internal electrics of the light fitting.
IP 45 - IP 65 are some of the type usually used."

"Yes; you should buy lights that are recommended for bathrooms; these lights systems/assemblies, have special seals which prevent condensation/moisture from entering inside light assembly."

"Hi. Bathrooms or any rooms with water, are split into zones.
Just Google 'bathroom electrical zones' and they will give you some clarity.
Light fittings MUST be suitable for the zone where it is to be installed.
To be safe, seek advice from an electrician, preferably me!"

"You can’t use any lighting in bathrooms, they have to be suitable for bathrooms and also in bathrooms you have lighting zones so even if the lights are suitable for bathrooms they need to be suitable for the zone they are going in. Best thing i always install in bathrooms are shower downlights. They can go in all zones and look great."
