Ask your QuestionWhat is considered a full working day for a handyman? I often see the hourly and daily rates of different types of labourers. Is the daily rate a direct accumulation of the total hours worked. Say it’s 8 hours worked, is the daily rate just eight hourly rates? Or is the daily rate a separate charge that is actually more than the total number of hours worked x the hourly rate? How does this work? Does it vary based on the contractor and their industry? Does it depend on where the contractor is based? I’m really curious to know the ins and outs of hourly vs. daily rates of contractors. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.

"I think of it as this, 1 hour is used to commute to you which is a charge then the 8 hours !
Tesco pays £9 an hour to stack shelves, so a handyman is more than just a skill job as they are capable of completing multiple trades. £20 an hour is probably on the low side for a handyman but does depend on what your asking he or she to do."
"Hi
An 8 hr shift is considered a day rate. In Plymouth it is around £120 a day.
This can be broke down but i usually charge £20 an hour for a few hours or would charge half a day if it is 3 hrs. If it goes into 5-6 hrs, some would charge a day rate as they wouldnt be able to do another job that day.
It varies for trades, some handymen could do gas, electric etc so it could be a lot more depending on job, skills needed or area."
"Tradesmen / Handymen
A normal working day / shift is roughly £100 - £150 per day. It really depends on the types of works the trades will be doing.
The hourly rate will be anything from £20 - £30 per hour. I hope this helps"
"Hi I charge by the hour based on whatever job I take on, so if a job takes 2hrs 15min you would be charged just that however if it was just 1/2 hour then I charge for the first full hour this is to cover my time plus fuel costs.
If a job took longer than usual due to unforeseen circumstances then you would be charged the extra time as it’s classed as unforeseen work.
However if a straight forward job was quoted for in advance then you would be charged the quoted price.
All Handymen work differently some charge more than others between £20 - £65 ph, some charge a callout fee + time and obviously any materials.
Some charge by the hour or by the job they quote."
"Hi the average rates do very but as far as I know for an 8 hour day its from £80 upwards to £150 of course this depends on the experience of the tradesmen I hope that this has helped you yours sincerely Wayne Adams"

Answered on 5th Sep 2020 - Member since Aug 2019 - report"Average cost of Handyman is around £40 per hour. Daily rate for tradesman is around £120 per day or £160 if laboner is required. Any Handyman worth his salt would be more than happy with 4+ hours at daily rate.
